CFTDA Membership Dues Increase
At the November 7, 2024, CFTDA general meeting, members discussed the need to increase annual membership dues to strengthen our organization’s presence in national discussions that impact our programs. This conversation was driven by the recent commitment to send two CFTDA representatives to the FESHE (Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education) meeting at the National Fire Academy in Emmitsburg, Maryland. Our representatives’ participation in this meeting is vital for influencing FESHE standards and aligning our programs with nationally recognized best practices, an initiative projected to cost approximately $3,500.

Rationale for Dues Increase:
The CFTDA Board recognizes that supporting member participation in key gatherings, such as the FESHE meeting, is essential for advocating on behalf of our members and aligning our programs with evolving national standards. Additionally, funding is necessary to cover travel, quarterly meeting expenses, and the transition to Square for improved financial management.
To meet these needs, the Board proposes raising annual membership dues to $100 per member. This adjustment is expected to increase annual revenue from $2,600 to approximately $6,500, enabling us to sustain and expand our involvement in initiatives that provide direct benefits to CFTDA members and enhance the quality of our programs.
Board Action Summary:
On November 15, 2024, the CFTDA Board held a meeting via zoom to review and act on the proposed dues increase. During this session, the Board reaffirmed CFTDA’s mission to promote excellence in fire technology education and training. Recognizing the value of active engagement in national initiatives, the Board unanimously approved the increase in annual membership dues to $100 for all membership categories. This decision reflects our commitment to advancing our shared objectives, fostering collaboration, and strengthening the resources available to our members.
Website Tracking and Payment
After a discussion with the web host provider and the association in Monterey, the board has decided that we will be transitioning to membership tracking and payment through our website. The goal is to streamline and improve the process. We will be moving towards this in the early part of 2025. This will allow the option to pay with a credit card through Square directly on this site. We will still keep the current option for those who need it. We will update you as we move through this process.
