JOB DESCRIPTION

The El Camino Community College District is now accepting applications for anticipated part-time faculty positions for the 2022 fall semester to teach Fire and Emergency Technology courses with emphasis on the following:

FIRE AND EMERGENCY TECHNOLOGY 1 – Dual Enrollment courses

Candidate will need to be available during the day on Monday and Wednesday or during the day on Tuesday and Thursday. Candidate may be asked to teach at local high school locations.

Faculty job responsibilities include the development/review of curriculum and assessment of learning outcomes to improve teaching and learning in achieving El Camino College’s mission of institutional effectiveness, quality educational programs, and vibrant student support services. Some assignments may include dual-enrollment courses offered offsite on high school campuses.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years full-time or full-time equivalent experience in the discipline; OR

Associate’s degree and six (6) years full-time or full-time equivalent experience in the discipline; OR

The equivalent – Candidates not possessing the required qualification(s) as stated on this announcement, must complete the Request For Equivalency Form as part of the application process to explain in detail how their qualifications are equivalent to those above; OR

Valid California community college credential in appropriate subject (per California Education Code 87355 issued prior to July 1, 1990); AND

Sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and of individuals with disabilities.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience as a sworn fire department employee with more than ten (10) years of experience.

Community college teaching experience.

Demonstrated ability to cultivate partnership with related program industry members and advisory committees.

Demonstrate ability to develop a variety of effective teaching techniques and assessment methods.

Ability to engage student interest to support a variety of learning styles.

Ability to promote the use of instructional technology in curriculum delivery.

Demonstrated ability to thrive in a team environment as a member of and instructional team.

Ability to utilize technology in and outside of the classroom, including online/hybird teaching experience.

Fire service/public safety training center instructional experience teaching FSTEP, CFSTES, and/or IFSAC courses.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Part-time teaching assignment(s) for the 2022 fall semester, beginning August 27, 2022. A teaching demonstration may be required during the interview process. Teaching assignments may include off-site locations. Offer and acceptance of employment is subject to verification of all information provided on the employment application, credential(s), and transcripts. Candidates selected for employment must agree to be fingerprinted, submit proof of COVID Vaccination, submit Certification of Completion of the Tuberculosis Risk Assessment and/or Examination, provide proof of eligibility for employment in the United States, and present a valid Social Security card upon hire.

SALARY RANGE

Part-time faculty members are compensated on a semester basis according to the number of class hours assigned per semester and on cumulative semesters of instruction for the District. The beginning rate is $96.39 – $116.13 (lecture), $73.06 – $88.00 (lab) per hour depending on education and experience.
