I hope this message finds you well.
Bakersfield College is excited to announce the launch of our Wildland Fire Academy, scheduled to begin in Fall 2025. This academy will provide essential training for future wildland firefighters and support our region’s increasing need for skilled personnel to meet today’s wildfire challenges.
As we prepare for this important initiative, we are seeking guidance and feedback from experienced professionals and partner agencies. Specifically, we are in need of:

A wildland fire vehicle (Type 3 or Type 6) and a passenger van for student transport and field operations.
-
PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) that meets NFPA 1977 standards for wildland firefighting.

Tools and equipment, including hand tools, hoses, and related gear for training and live exercises.
Your experience and insights would be invaluable to us as we build a strong foundation for this program. If you have recommendations, surplus equipment, or know of funding or partnership opportunities, we would greatly appreciate your input.
Thank you in advance for any information or support you can provide as we work to train the next generation of wildland firefighters and strengthen community safety.
